Officers responded to a 911 call a few days ago, from a young girl reporting that her mother had been bitten by a dog.

On arrival, Officer Goodrich was met by Shiya, age 6, who waved him down and told him to “follow me.” She brought the officer to her mother, who had been bitten while trying to break up a fight between two family dogs.

Animal Control Officer Moran, while investigating, heard of Shiya’s response to the incident and gave her the coin to recognizer her bravery and ability to stay calm.
